The Cursillo group based in our parish leads the rosary before all 3 weekend Masses. We encourage you to arrive in plenty of time to join in prayer – rosary begins 30 minutes before each weekend Mass. The prayers are to bring healing and reconciliation to our church and world at this particular time of unrest, fear and pestilence.

From time to time it is worth reminding ourselves that our parish is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. This feast, which takes place on October 7, is a commemoration of the victory of the Catholic forces over the Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. Pope Pius V called all Catholics to pray for victory in the battle, and the starry dome in the ceiling of the baldacchino in our church portrays the night sky over the Bay of Lepanto on that date.

This is a constant reminder that the battle against the forces of wickedness is never ending. Many saints remind us that the holy rosary is a vital weapon in this battle. Part of our mission at OLR, therefore, is to promote the prayer of the rosary.
