Welcome to the Religious Education Program at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church!

We are happy to support parents in their role as the primary spiritual and moral educators of their children.  We seek to give the children in our care the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to become faithful and fruitful disciples of Jesus with the support of their parents or guardians.

Do you have a 3-6 year old? We invite you to register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based form of catechesis grounded in the Church’s liturgy and doctrine. Scripture passages and themes presented throughout the year range from the Good Shepherd and Eucharistic Presence to Jesus’ infancy and the liturgical year. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd meets once each school week. For more information, please email Claire Cousino at catechesisofgoodshepherd@gmail.com.

Classes for sacramental preparation are 2-year programs. Students in 1st or 7th grade in public schools will need to attend religious education classes this year, as well as next year, in order to receive First Holy Communion in 2nd grade or Confirmation in 8th grade.

Grades 1 and 2 will meet on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in the school classrooms. As part of preparation for First Holy Communion, parents of 2nd grade children will need to attend 4 classes, which will meet during that same time.

Religious Education Registration 21-22

Religious Education Calendar 21-22

In keeping with diocesan guidelines, Our Lady of the Rosary implements a two-year program to prepare for Confirmation. The first year of the program consists in participation in religion classes at Our Lady of the Rosary School, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, or Sunday religious education classes for those in public schools.  In addition to the same requirements as the first year, Confirmation candidates attend a series of additional classes and activities.
Religious Education classes for 7th and 8th graders will begin on Sunday, October 24, 2021. The classes will be held every Sunday from 9:00AM-10:00AM in the OLR Upper School which is on the opposite side of Guadalupe Hall. These classes will be taking the place of the MS youth group.

We encourage families who have children with special needs to contact us so we can discuss resources and accommodations that are available.

We look forward to the new year of Religious Education in our parish community, and we hope you and your family will find this new approach interesting and spiritually beneficial.  We welcome your questions and comments.  Thank you for your partnership in sharing the Faith with your children.
