Financial Assistance

(Located at Mother Teresa House)

The St. Vincent de Paul Society – Our Lady of the Rosary Conference has a mission to help the less fortunate in our parish, the surrounding area, and the wider community. As part of this mission, SVdP may use some of its available funds to assist those in financial difficulty. The following procedures will be followed in giving assistance:

Direct cash assistance is not available. The maximum amount of assistance is $100 per household. Prior to a second request for financial assistance, an interval of six months must have passed and it must be demonstrated that there has been some effort to improve the financial situation.. Assistance should focus only on those items critical to the safety, security or health of the individual requesting the assistance. Examples include electric, gas, water or heating bills.  Assistance will be provided for legitimate, existing bills or obligations owed to verifiable businesses (those having a tax ID). A request for funds must be made directly by the person needing assistance by calling 864-412-7101 and leaving a message that includes your full name and phone number. Those requesting funds will be called back in a timely manner to set up an appointment for an interview and to submit the required documentation. Interviews are by appointment only. No walk-ins will be interviewed. If the interview is positive and the request is approved, payment will be made directly to the agency or business by SVdP.

Required Documentation:

Proof of identity (driver’s license, picture ID, etc.)

Proof of current address (driver’s license, etc.)

Proof of source of income (pay stubs, alimony receipts, section 8 assistance, SSI or SSD, etc.)

Number of residents in the household

Proof of expenses (copies of all bills)

The bill for which you need assistance must be in your name. You must present the original copy of the most recent bill.

Ministry to the Homebound or in Nursing Homes

The Arimethians

Volunteers in this ministry attend funerals of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish members who otherwise would not have many attending because of their ages or family situations. To volunteer for this ministry, or for information, call the Our Lady of the Rosary Church office at 864-422-1648.

Mother Teresa House Ministry

(A Ministry of OLR and the SVdP Society)

Mother Teresa House is located at 110 James Drive, in the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood. It serves as a social outreach center for the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood, the Shemwood Apartment complex, and the homeless population residing in the motels across Augusta and Mauldin Roads.  The mission of Mother Teresa House is to provide a safe space where residents of the served communities can come for direct help in the areas of emergency food assistance, nursing based medical screening and assessment, with some physician participation, and telephonic referral to other Greenville agencies offering a large variety of services to the poor and disadvantaged.

If you are in need of any of the services provided by Mother Teresa House, please call 864-412-7101 and leave a message that includes your name and phone number. Your call will be returned in a timely manner. MTH is open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. All in need of assistance are welcome.

God’s love for those in need is clear at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.

The SVdP Society would like to thank the parishioners for their generous support of its ministries.
